Lavender is an evergreen shrub-like plant that grows up to 1 meter and has pale green, narrow leaves and numerous tiny violet-blue flowers. Lavender thrives in dry areas and originates from the western Mediterranean. Romans and Benedictine monks brought it to other European countries.
Lavender essential oil is pale yellow with a hint of green and has a characteristic sweet, green scent. It has a calming effect and can be used to reduce tension or stress and promote peaceful sleep. It alleviates skin problems, helps to relieve pain and inhibit inflammation from burns, and also promotes healing and reduces the extent of scars. It can act as a pain reliever, antidepressant, antispasmodic, deodorant, and diuretic. It helps with rheumatism, intestinal gas, gallbladder problems, and colds.
Usage: If you want to scent a room, drop a few drops into the water in a diffuser. Similarly, you can add a few drops to a scented bath for a nicer smell, or drip it onto dried flowers, wood, etc., and the oil will slowly evaporate into the room, creating a pleasant aroma.
