Tea tree essential oil is pale yellow or colorless with a fresh, medicinal scent with characteristic herbal and menthol undertones. It is known for its strong immune system stimulating properties. Massaging with (diluted) tea tree oil before surgery can strengthen the body and reduce post-operative shock. Tea tree is a small tree or shrub with narrow leaves, growing up to 7 meters high. It thrives in marshy soils, and is now cultivated in plantations in many places. It is a very resilient tree; for oil production, they are pruned every two years. Tea tree oil was used by Australian Aborigines long ago, and has also been used in aromatherapy for a long time.

Tea tree oil was highly valued during World War II, so tea tree harvesters were exempt from military service until enough was produced. Every soldier and sailor received a bottle of tea tree oil as part of their personal equipment, which they used for disinfection, infected wounds, and tropical diseases. When used in a diffuser, it can help with colds, measles, sinusitis, and viral infections. In skin and hair care products, it proves effective for acne-prone and problematic, oily skin, removes dandruff, and helps against lice. Oils it can be mixed with: cinnamon, clary sage, cloves, geranium, lavender, lemon, myrrh, nutmeg, rosewood, rosemary, and thyme.

Usage: If you want to scent a room, drop a few drops into the water in a diffuser. Similarly, you can add a few drops to a fragrant bath for a more pleasant scent or sprinkle it on dried flowers, wood, etc., and the oil will slowly evaporate into the room, creating a pleasant aroma.
