Our grandmothers used to prepare syrup from fir (or spruce) shoots in spring, which they mixed with sugar to extract the medicinal oil that helps with coughing.

Fir essential oil has a very fresh, woody, earthy, and slightly sweet scent. It excellently freshens the air in the home and is also very suitable for use in sickrooms, where it is used in a diffuser. It can help with bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, and other lung diseases, as it calms coughs, stimulates endocrine glands, and improves blood circulation.
