Collection: Satya Incense Sticks

Satya is a renowned brand of the Shrinivas Sugandhalaya company. The founder of the company is Shri K.N. Satyam Setty, who was affected by a rare condition called anosmia, which impairs the ability to smell. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, he decided to create his own world of scents. In 1964, he established a small unit for producing incense sticks.

He compensated for his inability to smell by studying ancient Indian texts on fragrances and incenses. He was particularly interested in a method where key incense ingredients were incorporated and kneaded into a special vessel, from which the incense was then hand-rolled. This technique, called "masala" or "flore," became the main driver of production at Shrinivas Sugandhalaya.

Over the years, "masala" incense gained worldwide recognition, as it lasted longer and was more potent than other methods of producing incense sticks, and Satyam Setty established himself as the modern "king of masala incenses." The first blend of the house was Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa incense, which is today the most sought-after and commercially successful masala blend worldwide. Numerous other blends and fragrances of incense sticks under the same Satya brand followed later.
